Our Companies
In 1975, Robert G. Graf founded American Mine Research, Inc. (AMR) to support the mining industry’s need for enhanced safety through the use of ground continuity monitors.
In addition to the ground monitor, AMR offers the mining and other industries a variety of products ranging from environmental monitors and data acquisition systems and control and ground bed monitors to vacuum circuit breaker systems. AMR has its headquarters in Rocky Gap, Virginia.
East River Metals, Inc. (ERM) was founded to provide high quality metal products to AMR at a time when quick turnarounds were needed during product development. Using computer controlled machinery with state of the art processing and quality control, the company specializes in fabrication and assembly of sheet metal products yielding close tolerances and high cosmetic quality finishes. Since 1979, ERM has diversified its customer base and now AMR makes up less than 1% of its total sales volume. ERM’s 26,000 sq ft facility is located in Rocky Gap, Virginia.
As the result of the growth of both AMR and ERM, Custom Manufacturing Services, Inc. (CMS) was founded in 1995 and is located in Princeton, West Virginia. CMS provides services to original equipment manufacturers and has the capability of turn-key manufacturing of surface mount and through-hole assembly circuit boards; cable and harness assemblies; electro-mechanical assembly; and sheet metal fabrication, assembly, finishing (both wet paint and powder coating) and screen printing.
CMS is composed of two facilities encompassing nearly 100,000 sq ft. One facility specializes in validating the manufacturability of the design, prototyping, quick turns, and high cosmetic stainless fabrication. The other facility houses the conveyorized paint line, high volume metal production and electro-mechanical assembly.
With our three facilities, CMS and ERM have an emergency contingency plan in place in the event of a catastrophe at any facility. All facilities are wide area networked, utilize the same processing software and similar equipment and maintain offsite backups of all data. This allows for any one facility to pick up the work load from any other and begin fabricating almost immediately.
